Cinco K on the 5th of May

Entrance to Sutter's Landing

No drinks for me this Cinco, I ran a 5k.  Attempted to at least.
The Free Run hosted by Fleet Feet J Street, Nike and Chipotle (free burritos for everyone)  at Sutter's Landing was a great excuse for more Sacramento Exploring.  Here is what I discovered:
Wearing the Project Fit jersey and test running the Nike Free shoe

Sutter's Landing is huge and offers a little something for everyone!  Aside from the rough terrain trail I ran that was situated alongside the American River, I found basket ball and bocce courts as well as a dog park, a skate park and biking trails.  This park was definitely designed for activity and perfect for a happy hour or weekend brunch replacement.

Project Fit is an awesome after school running program that provides materials and coaching session to Sacramento Elementary Schools.   Although the run was free, donations were being accepted and my donation landed me a super cool Project Fit Jersey T.

Nike Test Run Booth
The funnest thing about the run was switching out my old running shoes for a brand new pair of Nike Free's.  Fleet Feet J Street and Nike teamed up and provided runners with test rides of new running products.
Nike Free is awesome but probably better for days spent indoors.  At the end of the race I had rocks stuck to the bottom of the shoe.  Not very comfortable for running out in the rough terrain.

Allergies Suck!  I ran a bad race and came in at 37 minutes.  The day was super hot and the pollen in the air was visible.  I had to constantly stop to catch my breath and right before the finish line I had to stop and rest.  My lungs closed up, I was wheezing, I couldn't stop sneezing and I couldn't breath out of my nose...This run confirmed it for me, allergies suck!

Trying to make it across the finish line

The Blog is Back

I've been on a blog hiatus, somewhere between finding and loosing my self.  It's too bad really, my move to the lake would have made for some curious stories.  Lots has changed for me since my last blog and if it's been a while since we've last connected, believe me when I write lots!  I'm a Sacramento Explorer at the moment, see:

Capital Park
Across the street from Capital Park

In my opinion, the best time to visit the state's capital park, is after a late night-late dinner at Ma Jong's.  Located directly across the street from each other, they make for the type of date night you see in movies.  And, if you're lucky enough to catch a tune by the guy that plays the saxophone accross the street, slow dance.

Stay Tuned...

Sugarland

The Sugarland concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl last night was phenomenal.  Jennifer Nettles was captivating and her energy was through the roof!  Midway through the show she and the other members of the band autographed a guitar, ran it up to the nosebleed section and gave it away.  The couple sitting in front of us (went with Jennifer Grant) was hilarious and probably the bands biggest fans.  The girlfriend took lead as she stood and sang along to every song and boyfriend, well, he followed by chiming in every other chorus.  The couple's grand finale came when Jennifer (Nettles not Grant) sang Stay.  At first Jennifer (Grant) and I couldn't figure out if the girlfriend was okay.  When she heard the start of the song, she began to make a noise that resembled something between the ugly cry and a wolf howling at the moon.  She'd grab her heart and and almost fall in despair and then she'd dance.  Boyfriend was feeling it too, although not as load and noticeable as girlfriend, he was moaning and groaning and crying along.  I wish I could replay the entire boyfriend/girlfriend scene for you.  Ah well, the song will have to do.

Sugarland Stay Video

Lyrics:
been sittin' here staring
at the clock on the wall
and i been layin here praying
praying she won't call
it's just another call from home
and you'll get it and be gone
and i'll be crying
and i'll be beggin you baby
beg you not to leave
but i'll be left here waiting
with my heart on my sleeve
oh for the next time we'll be here
seems like a million years
and i think i'm dying

what do i have to do to make you see
she can't love you like me

why dont you stay
im down on my knees
im so tired of being lonely
don't i give you what you need
when she calls you will go
there is one thing you should know
we dont have to live this way
baby why dont you stay

you keep telling me baby
there will come a time
when you will leave her arms
and forever be in mine
but i don't think that's the truth
and i don't like being used
and i'm tired of waiting
it's too much pain to have to bear
to love a man you have to share

why dont you stay
im down on my knees
im so tired of being lonely
don't i give you what you need
when she calls you will go
there is one thing you should know
we dont have to live this way
baby why dont you stay

i can't take it any longer
but my will is getting stronger
and i think i know just what i have to do
i can't waste another minute
after all that i've put in it
i've given you my best
why does she get the best of you
so the next time you find
you wanna leave her bed for mine

why dont you stay
im up off my knees
im so tired of being lonely
you cant give me what i need
when she begs you not to go
there is one thing you should know
i dont have to live this way
baby why dont you stay

yeah yeah oh oh oh oha oh

like blah blah blah

Comin' out your mouth with your blah blah blah
Zip your lip like a padlock
And meet me at the back with the jack and the jukebox
I don't really care where you live at
Just turn around boy, let me hit that
Don't be a little bitch with your chit chat
Just show me where your ****s at

Musics up
Listen hot stuff
I'm in love
With this song
So just hush
Baby shut up
Heard enough

Stop t-t-talkin' that
Blah blah blah
Think you'll be getting this
Nah nah nah
Not in the back of my
Car-ar-ar
If you keep talking that
Blah blah blah blah blah

Boy come on get your rocks stuff
Come put a little love in my glove box
I wanna dance with no pants on, holla
Meet me in the back with the jack and the jukebox
So cut to the chase kid
'Cause I know you don't care what my middle name is
I'm gunna be naked
And your wasted

Musics up
Listen hot stuff
I'm in love
With this song
So just hush
Baby shut up
Heard enough

Stop t-t-talkin' that
Blah blah blah
Think you'll be getting this
Nah nah nah
Not in the back of my
Car-ar-ar
If you keep talking that
Blah blah blah blah blah

You be delaying, you always sayin' some shit
You say I'm playin' I'm never layin the disc
Sayin blah blah blah cause I don't care who you are
In this bar it only matters who I is

Stop t-t-talkin' that
Blah blah blah
Think you'll be getting this
Nah nah nah
Not in the back of my
Car-ar-ar
If you keep talking that
Blah blah blah blah blah

Blah blah blah
Think you'll be getting this
Nah nah nah
Not in the back of my
Car-ar-ar
If you keep talking that
Blah blah blah blah blah

Ohh
Blah Blah Blah
Stop talking
Stop t-t-talkin' that
